Presenting this oh so delicious Adobo Steak Recipe from my test kitchen. Several Adobo Steak recipes are readily available around. However, this recipe is very different because there is a Filipino Adobo touch in it. I’m pretty sure that you will like this.
I have some recommendations though, so that you can enjoy the same dish as we did. Number one, use the most tender part of the beef for this recipe. Beef tenderloin is the most recommended part, but you can also use beef sirloin if it is not available. Number two, do not use other types of vinegar other than red wine vinegar. This vinegar has a unique flavor that brings out the best in this dish.Lastly, try not to over eat.

Adobo Steak Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs beef tenderloin
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 green bell pepper sliced lengthwise
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat a cooking pot then pour-in 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Put-in the beef and cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Pour-in soy sauce and water then allow to boil. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Note: Add more water if the mixture dries-up.
- Put-in the honey and red wine vinegar and allow to boil. Stir and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn-off heat and set aside.
- Heat a wok and pour-in remaining olive oil.
- Put-in bell pepper and onion then cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the cooked beef tenderloin, salt, and pepper then stir. Cook for a minute more.
- Transfer to a serving plate then serve. Share and enjoy!

This really does sound and look delicious but I have a question before I try and make it. Beef tenderloin is already so tender, once it’s cut into strips and fried for a minute or two, boiling it for 20 minutes seems really excessive. Does it really need to cook that long? I should also say that I’m cutting the recipe by 1/3 because I only need 2 servings. Does that make a difference in the cook time?

Lisa, good question. It will still depend on the quality of the tenderloin. USDA tenderloin usually need only half of the time.

Made this last night and it was a hit with my kids and wifey..
I would just like to say that as being a filipino american and only one who cooks at home; after getting married and leaving my parents; I had to learn how to cook. I’ve always liked filipino food that my mom has cooked and just did not know how to; Until I saw your website. Easy how to directions and the food is amazing. i only have white wine vinegar in my kitchen.
can i use it instead of red wine vinegar?

Although they are both vinegar, white and red have different taste. You may use white wine vinegar, but it will affect the taste in a way.

I found beef tenderloin on sale, I bought about 4 lbs (package), I cooked half of it (2 lbs); I have the ingredients available in the pantry. Love the adobo steak; my son ate half of the adobo I cooked, so I cooked the other half (remaining 2 lbs), my other 2 sons love it too. I would say that the red wine vinegar and honey made the difference in taste from my regular adobo. My son requested this for my grandson’s bday party last Sunday. I always watch the sale, so I bought more and cooked for the party; it was a hit.

Very rare I give comment..but thanks so much for sending me your wonderful recipes..great helped for me..I like this adobo steak particularly but I dont think I can find red wine vinegar here in the middle east..what does it made of?…regards and more power to your website
