Beef Mami is a type of Beef Noodle soup of Filipino-Chinese origin. This is simply composed of tender beef brisket and egg noodles, boiled eggs, and other toppings which are soaked in a hot ย and flavorful beef stock.
Beef Mami is usually sold in eateries. These mini restaurants are locally refered to as “Mamihan” or “Pares House”. It is a meal in itself, but it will be moreย delightful when eaten with Siopao. The beef mami recipe that we have here is more pf the Filipino side in terms of flavor. If you wan’t the taste to be somewhat oriental, you may a little soy sauce and sugar (just like the Beef pares).

Hi Kuya- can you use the ‘crockpot’ or ‘slow cooker’ for this recipe?
I’m thinking about letting it cook all day while doing other things and then just adding the boiled eggs and cabbage when beef soup is ready. I love your website!
Panlasang Pinoy says
Jeannette, sure you can. The meat will even be more tastier if cooked that way.
Mhianne says
use measuring cups. =)

Q: can I use my pressure cooker for this dish? I get off work late and most of the time my family is waiting for me to cook dinner. I’m hoping to cook this faster for my family. thanks… BTW- I love ALL your recipes!
Panlasang Pinoy says
Marc, You definitely can use your pressure cooker to save some time.
Nathan C says
On the beef pares, you used the pressure cooker to tenderize the beef with beef cube and water before sauteing the beef brisket with garlic and onion. On this recipe though, can I use the pressure cooker after sauteing the garlic, onions and beef brisket? Just add the beef cube, star anise and water? Thanks!

hi,
I loved cooking and your website is really helpful. I’m wondering what could be the alternative for star anise? I don’t think we have it here in Canada. Can you please advice me what to do? If there is no five spice powder? what could be other alternative?
Panlasang Pinoy says
Try Five Spice powder Amy.

Beef mami is always my dinner on my way back home. Fast food restaurants beef mami tastes good, but I think this simple recipe is better that them.
victor bagalso says
I think you missing ginger, beef stock, carrots, and sprouts for that recipe. I hope that some of this recipe help.
Panlasang Pinoy says
Thanks for the suggestion sir. No need for beef stock since I used beef cube. This is actually my simple beef mami recipe and as I mentioned in the post, I usually adopt our beef pares recipe when making a more oriental style beef mami in which ginger and other ingredients (and spices) are included.
I understand that we all have different styles in doing this dish and I really appreciate your input. Have good day.
