Sardines with Chayote is a common everyday dish. This has been a favorite among majority of Filipino households because of its low cost and satisfying taste. Aside from sardinas with misua and patola, this dish is also a pleaser, if you are a fan of canned sardines in tomato sauce.
This recipe uses 1 small can of sardines in tomato sauce and a medium size chayote. Typically, 2 people can enjoy this dish. White rice is the usual pair for this type of dishes; sometimes flour noodles are added for this to be a meal in itself.
I like having this for breakfast along with garlic rice and Filipino omelet. A cup of coffee will also be nice to go with it. After enjoying this simple meal, I make sure that I brush my teeth and gargle to remove the fishy aftertaste.
