BLT Salad

Who says that BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomatoes) are only good for sandwiches? How about a BLT Salad?

BLT Salad is a salad dish composed of cooked bacon, lettuce, and cherry (or grape tomatoes). Aside from these three main ingredients, there are other important components such as avocado, lemon, and cucumber.

I wish I can say that BLT salad is a healthier alternative for BLT Sandwich. While the “B” (Bacon) is around, the word “tasty” is more proper to use than “healthy”. Although, this is really a very nice tasting salad dish.

I make BLT salad for lunch when I don’t want to have carbohydrates. You can never go wrong with bacon especially if there are fresh vegetables that goes with it.

Try this BLT Salad Recipe and let me know what you think.

Ingredients:

6 to 8 slices bacon, cooked

1 small iceberg lettuce, sliced

8 to 10 pieces cherry tomatoes

1 small cucumber, sliced

1 avocado, peeled and sliced

2 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

3 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 tablespoon dijon mustard

salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:

1. Make the salad dressing by combining mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.

2. Combine the remaining ingredients (except the cheese) in a large bowl. Toss.

3. Put-in the salad dressing over the tossed salad and toss once more to distribute.

4. Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle cheese on top.

5. Serve. Share and enjoy!
