Easy Liempo Inihaw is a type of pork barbecue. It is grilled the Filipino way. Liempo or pork belly are marinated in basic inihaw marinade composed of soy sauce, banana sauce, ground black pepper, and lemon (or calamansi). A special liquid seasoning intentionally created as a marinade for meats is also used. This ingredient makes this dish tastier. You will know more about it in the recipe below.
I love the result of this recipe because I can obviously taste the pork flavor right after the first bite. It also cuts the duration of the marinating process by more than half. You canโt beat that.
How to Cook Easy Liempo Inihaw
Making liempo inihaw is now faster and tastier. The procedure is pretty much the same as preparing traditional grilled pork belly Filipino style. However, this recipe is very promising. It provides you with a more flavorful grilled pork in less than the usual duration.
Start by combining all the marinade ingredients with the pork belly. This is composed of the usual soy sauce, ketchup (banana), calamansi or lemon, and ground black pepper. I also add around 3 tablespoons of Knorr SavorRich Pork Liquid Seasoning. Mix all together and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes. I should emphasize that it usually takes at least 3 hours to ensure that the meat absorbs enough flavors from the marinade. Consider this recipe as a short cut with a better result.
Prepare the basting sauce before grilling. This sauce is brushed on the meat while grilling to provide more favor and to keep it moist. You can find the ingredients below. Simply combine everything in a bowl and stir.
The next step is grilling. Heat-up your favorite grill. Charcoal grill will give you the best result. I used an indoor infrared grill in the recipe video below because it is raining outside. The result is still fantastic.
Grill each side of the pork belly for 3 minutes. Make sure to brush basting sauce on the pork every time it us turned over. It takes around 8 to 9 minutes to cook the belly per side. Make sure to keep an eye on the pork while grilling. It should be almost done when you notice it starting to turn medium brown in color.
