There are tons of staples you could probably think of when it comes to assembling the usual Filipino Christmas dinner table. You’ve got the likes of hamon and queso de bola. But several Pinoys also like heaps of a specific kind of pasta to complete the family feast. For me, considering the importance of the holidays, you can’t have just any type of spaghetti in such a season. This is why I’m introducing the only Filipino Spaghetti recipe that I trust for the holidays.

sweet spaghetti with tomato sauce

Ingredients in my trusted Filipino Spaghetti recipe

Spaghetti noodles

This is the ingredient you’ll be starting off with in the dish. We’re going to begin by cooking 1 lb. of spaghetti noodles, which would be enough to serve the family this holiday season!

Ground pork

You probably already use this for plenty of dishes because the way it’s cut up is just so convenient to add to most meals. Grab 1 lb. of ground pork that has a pale pink color, but also has a couple of white flecks or marbling for fat. This way, we get to make sure that we’re getting something fresh and flavorful for the dish.

Filipino style spaghetti sauce

Some deliciously smooth and salty-sweet Filipino style spaghetti sauce is another essential. Prepare 35 ounces of this.

Knorr Pork Cube

Since we’re utilizing a lot of pork flavors for this dish, we really want to bring out the satisfying taste of such ingredients. For that purpose, we will use 1 Knorr Pork Cube.

Ham

Don’t forget another type of meat that integrates just a bit more sweetness to your dish. Go ahead, and buy 3 ounces of ham, and then slice these up.

Hotdogs

Let’s also slice 5 hotdogs diagonally for this dish.

Red bell pepper

And for a nutritious addition, we will use ½ cup of red bell pepper that we have minced.

Green bell pepper

Similarly, we will also mince some green bell peppers because we need ½ cup of this for the Filipino Spaghetti.

Yellow onion

For an onion flavor that is less sharp, but will provide all the savor we want, we should also have 1 yellow onion onhand. Then just mince this.

Garlic

Speaking of savor, 4 cloves of garlic is also needed. Just like our previous ingredients, we will mince this to flawlessly incorporate it into the sauce of the spaghetti.

Water

We’re going to use lots of water because of the boiling process required for our noodles. Gather 8 cups.

Shredded cheddar cheese

Who doesn’t want plenty of delicious shredded cheddar cheese in their pasta? Let’s get 1 cup of this. I used white sharp cheddar for this recipe.

Cooking oil

And of course, for a seamless cooking process, we need 3 tablespoons of cooking oil.

Salt and ground black pepper

Last but not least, we will need the ultimate seasonings for most dishes— salt and ground black pepper. There isn’t a specific amount required for this spaghetti recipe, other than for cooking the noodles. Just 1 teaspoon is necessary for that. But for the rest of the steps, you can add as much as you prefer.

What does this spaghetti recipe taste like?

If you’ve ever had a bite of Filipino Spaghetti, you would know that it can taste pretty different compared to the classic version. That’s because we’ve got a whole lot more sweetness as a result of Filipino style spaghetti sauce.

Filipino spaghetti recipe

This is a lot meatier too because we definitely will not be cutting back on that type of ingredient. We’ve got some deliciously savory hotdogs, ground pork and ham. What I also incorporated in this recipe to distinguish it from some other Filipino spaghetti dishes is a boost of crunchiness with a mix of subtle sweetness. We’ve got red and green bell peppers for our recipe too.

And to tie it all up, you can expect a satisfying amount of cheesiness to complement our rich, thick spaghetti sauce.

How to Make the only Filipino Spaghetti recipe that I trust for the holidays

Cooking the noodles

Boiling water – Start this up in your cooking pot, and then sprinkle in just a teaspoon of salt. Add your spaghetti noodles inside, and just cook them as indicated in the package.

Draining the water – You can use a strainer for this, and then set aside your cooked spaghetti.

Creating the sauce and cooking the meat

Sautéing garlic and onion – Begin by placing cooking oil in your pot, and then adding your garlic and onion. Sauté this until the onion gets soft.

Cooking the ground pork, ham and hotdogs – We must first incorporate the ground pork, and cook this up while stirring. You can also add your ham and hotdogs once the pork has gotten light brown. Sauté everything together for 2 minutes.

Adding the veggies and spaghetti sauce

Pinoy spaghetti

Cooking the bell peppers – Add these ingredients into the pot, and then just let this cook for 1 minute.

Pouring the spaghetti sauce inside – Once you have integrated this, you can also put 1 cup of water inside. Stir the ingredients together, and wait for the mixture to boil.

Placing some final seasonings in the sauce

Incorporating Knorr Pork Cube – After you put the cube inside, you should place the cover on top. Take the heat down a bit so it can simmer. And then keep everything cooking for 30 minutes. But every once in a while, specifically after every 6 minutes, you should stir the mixture.Adding salt and ground black pepper – Place as much as you would like for this. There is also the option of grating some cheese on top if you want some added cheesiness from the get go.

Plating the spaghetti

Placing the spaghetti noodles on a plate – Make sure to arrange this as neatly as you can. Then top it off with your spaghetti sauce from earlier. Also add your shredded cheese as a topping. And you can finally serve this delicious dish!
