Putting “crispy” and “spicy” together just always seems to work. But this combination probably shines the most in chicken. Just taste and see in this Chili Ginger Chicken recipe! It has a perfectly crunchy exterior coated with a rich, sweet sauce that has its own kick. We play with a ton of flavors to achieve this, and so you will utilize seasonings such as white vinegar, honey, and of course, sweet chili sauce.
But it’s not just the sauce bringing us plenty of irresistible heat. We’ve got some chopped up Thai chili peppers for this. And you get plenty of crunch from red bell peppers too. Just make sure to have some water on the side when you dig into this crispy treat.

How to Cook Chili Ginger Chicken
Seasoning the chicken
Take as much salt and ground black pepper as you would prefer, and sprinkle this all over your 1 lb. of boneless chicken breast that’s sliced into serving pieces. Toss these together until you’ve evenly distributed the salt and pepper.
Breading the chicken
Put your ¾ cup of all-purpose flour and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch in a bowl. Now you should mix these together. Afterwards, dredge your seasoned chicken from earlier in the mixture. Then take each piece, and dip this into a bowl with 2 beaten eggs. Dredge your chicken into the flour mixture again. Proceed to put the chicken on a clean plate.
Making the sauce
For this step, we will be needing 1 ½ teaspoons of Good Life Sesame Oil, ¼ cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey, 4 tablespoons of sweet chili sauce, 2 teaspoons of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of tomato ketchup, ¼ cup of water, and lastly, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix all these components together in a clean bowl. Keep doing this until the texture becomes smooth.
Frying the chicken
Now put 1 cup of cooking oil in a wok. Carefully place each piece of breaded chicken inside, and fry these until all sides become golden brown. Just make sure to turn the chicken as you are cooking.
Putting the ingredients together
Pour 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a clean wok, and apply heat. When your oil gets hot, you should add 3 thumbs of ginger you’ve minced, and 2 cloves of garlic you’ve also minced. Sauté these for just 30 seconds, and then incorporate 6 long green beans you’ve cut into 2-inch pieces, 1 Thai chili pepper you’ve chopped, and 1 red bell pepper you’ve sliced. We will once again sauté these, but this time for 1 minute.
Adding back the chicken and completing the dish
We will need the chicken we fried earlier. Place this into the wok, and toss it with the other components. Then pour your sauce all over your ingredients. Stir everything together, and keep cooking just until the sauce thickens. After that, just put your chicken on a serving plate.
This tastes terrific with some white rice. But I have some other suggestions for side dishes if you’re interested in them!
What to Serve with your Chili Ginger Chicken
Sinangag
Chili Ginger Chicken is flavorful, and so if you will mix in some fried rice, I would suggest going the simple route. Adding Sinangag will provide some light saltiness that would not overwhelm your palate. That’s also why this Filipino fried rice works with such a great variety of dishes. It does not have too strong a taste, and everyone ends up loving it with their ulams!
Stir Fry Tofu With Vegetables
I’m a big fan of having my chicken or any sort of meat with yummy vegetable dishes. If you’re the same, you might want to serve some Stir Fry Tofu With Vegetables on the side. This is quite the simple dish in terms of the cooking method because as the name implies, you just have to integrate the ingredients in a certain order, and stir fry away! My recipe is also a fantastic way to add more protein to your diet.
Crispy Noodles
If you want to make sure you are full after this meal, I would suggest throwing in some irresistibly savory Crispy Noodles! This has most everything you would want in a hearty dish from meat to vegetables to even seafood! All of these enrich the crunchy egg noodles that serve as our base. Just think pancit canton but with a crispy twist. This recipe also serves 4, and so it’s definitely a great dish for the family when you’re eating lunch or dinner together.
