Many delicious meals have been served piping hot and straight from the oven. Baking trays and pans are incredibly popular cookware, and this is even more true around the holidays! With numerous gatherings of friends and family to attend to, party trays are all the rage. From sweet desserts to those mouthwateringly savory, a good oven can make any dish extra special. And even when you don’t have extra company around, you don’t need an excuse to bake a delicious treat for yourself. Take this creamy baked salmon, for one!
Salmon is one of the most versatile fishes to have ever graced a kitchen. Mild, subtle, but refreshing, this fish has been around the world, nestling into so many different cuisines and cultures. When there are good cuts of salmon at your local supermarket, consider yourself lucky. The possibility of recipes to make with a delicious salmon fillet are seemingly endless, after all! But baked salmon remains to be one of the most popular and convenient dishes out there. Hearty, fresh, and filling, nothing tops the happy feeling one gets when they smell a delightful baked salmon in the oven.
But what makes this baked salmon so special? Without question, it’s the sauce or topping that comes with it! A generous blend of cream, cheddar cheese, lemon, and Lady’s Choice Mayonnaise make up the top coating of this creamy baked salmon. Together, this sauce is absolutely irresistible—all the more so when you combine it with your sumptuous salmon pieces. The dressing for your baked salmon makes your dish creamier, gives your taste palate that extra oomph, and will definitely make it the most enjoyable your baked salmon can be. Mayonnaise and cream balance out the sweet and savory flavors of the dish, while cheese adds a hint of saltiness which is evened out by the tangy lemon! Truly, there’s nothing not to love about this dressing.
Even heartier is the addition of vegetables to your bed of baked salmon. Broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, and green beans bring not just a different texture to your dish, but a flavor, too! Refreshing vegetables will complement the ample portions of your baked salmon. Further, they’re sure to lend a bright, vibrant color to your dish that wasn’t there before! Having your salmon, dressing, and veggies all together results in one perfect bite; you just can’t miss it!
What can you eat with this creamy baked salmon?
You usually find creamy baked salmon at restaurants accompanied by a dish like pasta or potatoes. For the former, something light and minimalist, like an oil based pasta, would complement the rich flavors of your creamy baked salmon well. Pesto pasta is also another great and potential partner to this yummy meal. But if you’re looking into using potatoes, you can’t go wrong with roasting some in garlic and olive oil, either! Mashed potatoes, which you can also coat with your delicious dressing, are also a good and possible choice.
While the flavors in these side dishes may be mild, your baked salmon has more than enough flavor to make up for it. And because we’re Filipino, well — there’s nothing wrong with having your dish with some cups of rice, too!
How to Make Creamy Baked Salmon
Follow this recipe and let’s make this creamy baked salmon together! While it might seem a little fancy and frivolous, it’s actually really quite straightforward. In no time at all, you will be able to enjoy every delicious bite this dish has to offer.
Let’s not waste any more time and get right into it. First, you must prepare the ingredients. Remove the skin from your salmon fillet, and season both sides with salt and ground black pepper to taste before setting it aside. Shred half a cup of cheddar cheese, chop your bell pepper (you can use any color or type you like!), and slice 2 pieces of carrots. Then, arrange all your veggies on your baking tray: carrots, bell peppers, broccoli, and long green beans all go in. After sprinkling some more salt and pepper, drizzle your vegetables with olive oil and toss. Spread your vegetables as evenly as you can in the pan, and pop them in the oven for a quick five minutes.
The next step of this baked salmon would be to cook the salmon itself! After heating a bit more olive oil in a pan, fry both sides of your salmon for 2 minutes. Squeeze half a lemon over the salmon; this gives it a tangier flavor and also slightly helps alleviate its fishiness. When the two minutes are up, be sure to set your salmon aside right away as we don’t want it to overcook.
Now we can start on making your baked salmon’s dressing! Heat all purpose cream in a different saucepan on low heat, before turning it off and tossing in your cheese. Let your cheese melt in the pan without the heat on, then add salt and onion and garlic powder. Squeeze in the remaining elmon and stir, incorporating the dressing’s ingredients together. Don’t forget your half a cup of Lady’s Choice Mayonnaise for that even deeper flavor!
After stirring some more, remove your vegetables from the oven and arrange your fish atop the vegetables. Take your dressing and drizzle, then spread it across your entire baking tray. Be sure that you’ve distributed it well enough that each part of your dish will be seeping with the saucy flavor! Preheat your oven to 350F and let your baked salmon cook for 12 minutes.
Remove your dish from the oven when time is up, for you to finally see that warm, bubbly deliciousness unfold in front of you. Serve this dish with your carb of choice and watch everyone’s mouths just water! This baked salmon is sure to be a hit.
